The Power Mole can transmit up to 11 Watts through any non-metallic gap: windows, wood, plastic and more! The 11 Watt range is about 32mm, and the Power Mole can still transfer 5 Watts through 36mm (1.4") of glass - even Low-E Windows.
Getting started with the Power Mole is easy, but there are a few pointers that can prevent common mistakes.
Before attempting to power your outdoor device with the Power Mole, ensure that it is setup and working properly with its original power adapter. This helps ensure setup issues are resolved before using the Power Mole.
Next, choose a window location that is near an indoor outlet (up to 9 feet/2.75m), as well as near the location you would like to install the outdoor device. Ensure the cable length is sufficient on both the indoor and outdoor side for your chosen location. For the outdoor side, a USB extension or adapter cable can be used. Once you've verified the cable legnths, the outdoor device can be installed (mounted) in the desired location.
We can install the Power Mole now. Starting with the receiver or outdoor side, remove the adhesive lining and press firmly to the window. Next, plug in the outdoor devices cord to the Power Mole receiver, using an adapter if needed.
For the transmitter or indoor side, repeat the steps of removing the adhesive and placing the transmitter firmly on the window, directly opposite of the receiver. Next, plug in the power adapter to your indoor outlet. The transmitter red light should briefly turn on, indicating it is searching for a receiver. The red light will go off when it finds a receiver to power. At this point, the Power Mole is delivering power through your window!
The Power Mole works through all types of glass, and can deliver 11 Watts of power through windows up to 36mm (1.4") thick. This solution works for all 5 Volt devices, including many cameras, lights and USB devices.
